Our current tiki bar is our 3rd version. Our first one started in our first home, a townhouse. It was a small area in our basement. The second one was in my childhood home, which we purchased and built the bar into an exiting half of our basement. Our third iteration, Hon O' Lulu, came with our move to the Eastern Shore. The basement was unfinished, so it was a blank canvas. I've done all the work myself, designing the layout, framing the walls, running the electric, etc. (EVERYTHING). The name Hon O' Lulu came from our living i Baltimore (until our move to the shore). "Hon" is a Baltimore term of endearment, the O' is for the Baltimore Orioles and together, the name is an obvious play on Honolulu, which was also a tiki establishment in Virginia we used to frequent until a road expansion caused it demise.
