Zombie Hut opened in Brooklyn in 2002. It is a small neighborhood bar with tiki-lite decor, very dim lighting and an outdoor patio. It's particularly well-known for serving strong, cheap tropical drinks. Cash only.
If you’re looking for better cocktails than Zombie Hut offers I would recommend Leyenda which is just up the street from the Hut. It’s not a tiki bar but their cocktails are extremely high quality with some being very tiki inspired. They also have a few mugs around and the bartenders were wearing Hawaiian shirts when I was there.
Zombie Hut...i wish I could say that I found a real Tiki Bar in Brooklyn, but it's not quite there. The decor was fun, it was dimly lit, there was fun lighting, and they had a fun outdoor patio in the rear fenced in bamboo. But the drinks...the drinks are not great. They had a pre-batched "frozen zombie" that was served in a plastic soda cup. My wife had the Planter's Punch, which was served in a Collins glass, so she was upgraded at least. Bottom line is if you're traveling to Brooklyn in hopes of finding a Tiki oasis, don't. If you're in Brooklyn already, it's a fun spot to check out and have a cheap drink.
This was a very fun bar! Service was great, it was pretty crowded for a Saturday night in Brooklyn, and would totally be a place I'd go to often if I lived there.
It's just not a tiki bar.
It has great tiki decor, and plenty of "tiki" drinks... but the drinks use substitution (e.g. amaretto for orgeat, etc.) and they weren't that great. They had sports on the TV, and the music was top 40 and hipster galore.

the decor is a bit of a mish-mash of polyneasian, african and eastern, but they really made an effort to make it look tikified even if their choice of art objects aren't very authentic. they have a short list of tiki drinks and serve scorpion and volcano bowls as well as their signature flaming shot. everything else comes in regular boring glasses. the staff was friendly and attentive.

Again- a fun bar! Just not a tiki bar.
