Tiki's Grill & Bar opened in 2002 in the heart of Waikiki, in the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. It offers a modern take on Polynesian Pop, with lots of art by modern pop artists and carvings. There is both outdoor and indoor seating.
Not bad. If you go by the inside it’s definitely more tiki than the outside. Staff is not too knowledgeable of the whole tiki thing, they view it as more of a theme only. Drinks are just ok, but the wall art and numerous tiki carvings are great.

This place is funny because it is kinda TGIF. But it's also very enjoyable. There are sorta of cheesy cheap qualities but also more legitamate tiki quailities. The TGIF aspects are things like wait staff wearing tikis themed collared shirts. The wait staff being all young and attractive. The outside had football playing on screens etc. Also the mugs are cheap and a few are pretty terrible. But i did get a really cool one which was only a 2 or 3 dollar upgrade to the drink.Which was great. The mai tai I got in it was servicable and better than most of the others i have had in Honolulu so far. The food was actually good compared to most tiki places. Not really tiki themed but tiki themed food is mostly boring or gross. We ate outside......but the legit parts are mostly inside. The decor of the interior is pretty solid. There are boskos and shag prints and tikis everywhere as well as moody lighting and lamps and such. We might go back before the end of our trip..in which case i will nab some photos for you all.
Not horribly bad. But if you're looking for quick and cheap along the lines of a commercialized place, this is for you!
It's a watered down version of a tiki bar that is very mainstream, almost along the lines of Margaritaville. Not fantastic, but not bad.
Our server was fantastic and she played along with us very well. I ordered the Volcano which had a lot of rum and it was kinda creative with the dry ice for the smoke effect.
Again, it wasn't the best rum I've had, but it wasn't a bad drink.
Overall, I think there could be a ton of ideas that can be slung about to give the place some cranked up charm. But I think they are playing host more to the tourists that need a safe place comparable to most generic places throughout the US that have the same cookie-cutter feelings to them (Olive Garden, Black Angus, Outback, etc.).
I loved the staff and the servers. We'll definitely head back as they do rotate mugs according to locals who visit there once in a while.
Mahalo Tiki's!
You know, it's ok. It was across from our hotel last time we were staying in Waikiki, and it was a nice, sunny place to catch a breeze and have a not-that-great mai tai (or the other basics, pre-made mixes, etc.) Not that dark, hidden tiki feel that most of us want, and very spring-break-y feeling, but by all means not the worst place I've ever been. However, I have to give a special shout-out to the ridiculously cute commemorative mugs. One of them had by far THE BEST tiki mug facial expression I've ever seen. And dang if those mugs didn't motivate me to get all four "special" drinks so I could get a full set of the mugs. I'd go back if I was staying at the Marriott again, but I wouldn't make a special trip to it.
The best way I heard it described (by my husband, so credit to him) is that it "feels like some burned-out 80s hair band owns this." And yes. That's exactly it, the Sammy Hagar Effect.
Bar staff was super friendly and pretty quick, and the patrons were fine. Not doing body shots or anything when we were there, but maybe that changes later at night.
Maybe there was a TGIF-party going on, but the vibe wasn't right. With a terrible cover-band playing only non-tiki tunes. I asked for a Zombie, the waitress never heard of it. This place - like the rest of Waikiki, actually - was a disappointment.
Ooops... After looking at the map, my girlfriend and I were possibly looking for this bar in the wrong part of the town.. Have in mind, my rum consumption at this point might have distorted my navigational capabilities. Think there might have been another bar called Tiki's in Waikiki that closed down.
While looking for Tiki's we did stumble on a Tiki-esque dive bar that had all night karaoke and served up Mai Tais for $3.75!!
It was called the Wailana cocktail lounge and was part of a 24 hour cafe at 1860 Ala Moana. We had a killer time!!
If your in Waikiki this place is a must. Good food and drinks are cool, we got the two tiki drinks and the coconut drink.
Very cool artwork - OK so it's not old school but it's good.
Update: Tiki's Bar and Grill now serve coctails in tiki mugs, some of them are even limited edition. The drinks are very good as well, and one of them (Pele's Wrath) is served with dry ice. I enjoyed my last visit very much.
This place is too modern. The lava tube room is pretty nice though. There are two different menus, the patio food is cheaper with sandwiches, and I prefer it. The "indoor" menu is kind of expensive, and I wasn't impressed with it. They have t-shirts and stuff for sale, and you can get a souvenier coconut mug to take home.
Visited in October 2009. Given the location (on main drag in Waikiki), I wasn't really expecting much. Although it is a nice place overall - good food/drinks/service; it is like a TGIF, with a tiki room (see photos). Not much real tiki vibe.
wished I had read that sooner...
