Yes Tiki has changed a lot over the years. Not all for that for the bad though. I should know...I've been employed there since Aug. 1986!
I've seen a lot of the changes first hand and most recently have had the pleasure of contributing to the changes. I was there when we had the Lounge/Restaurant in the "grass hut" booths and the large fish tank built into the wall. It WAS neat but rather dusty and dreary after a while. The "floral print" wallpaper has been transformed into a solid color now, light and airy. We have moved forward from a "novelty" lounge to a crisp clean casual dining spot. We do have excellent food, (besides our grilled cheese) many of which is made from scratch. Including some of the best soups and pies in the Lancaster area. All at very reasonable prices. If You're in the area, stop and give us a try! Our web site is www.tikilanes.com.

My Mom use to take me to her Wednesday bowling league nights here. The former glory was before my time. The outside was the only tiki left. There was some square tile mosaics with tiki statues and torches. The inside use to have painted tiki torches along the walls heading towards the lanes. In the late eighties or very early nineties they did a remodel which wiped out the tiki torches inside. They also got rid of the cool marker overhead projector score keepers. When I left there in 2000 the exterior was still unchanged.
I'm curious as to what year the menu pictured above is from as the tiki lounge was also gone before my time. I would have loved to see what it was like in the heyday. The lounge now is decked out in bad floral print wallpaper and there's some salty dogs working in the kitchen. If you go, stick to the grilled cheese.
