Humuhumu’s description

The Golden Tiki opened in Las Vegas' Chinatown on July 24, 2015. The man behind The Golden Tiki, Branden Powers, has been part of the nightclub scene in Las Vegas for some time now (he was Creative Director at the Hard Rock Hotel), but is himself a longtime lover of Tiki, having spent some of his youth DJing Exotica tunes at the Islands Restaurant

The Golden Tiki is in a large space, 4,000 square feet, and split into four different zones. The interior design and build out were done by Danny "Tiki Diablo" Gallardo. The bar has a thatched roof, and is topped by an animatronic talking tiki head, named Goldy, created by Erik "Irk" Hedman. A loveseat-sized artificial giant clam is popular for photos.
A flaming pu-pu platter is available on Friday and Saturday nights.

How to find it

The Golden Tiki is located within The Center at Spring Mountain, in Las Vegas' Chinatown.

Great decorations, wall hangings and animatronics. Emphasis here is really on the look. The drinks are average, and over the years it seems the rum and cocktail selections have dropped, in favor of more common drinks. A good "starter" tiki bar to take a friend to, but if you prefer a good drink, head to Frankies.

I visited The Golden Tiki on a recent trip to Las Vegas and it was hands down the best tiki experience I have had. The decor and atmosphere were unbelievable--packed with kitsch and oddities that really immersed you in the experience. I could watch their seeming endless looping reel of retro trailers and clips until my eyes fell out. The drink selection was stellar. I was able to work my way through most of the menu and the Painkiller was my favorite. Luis was our bartender for all three visits and he was not only attentive to our drink needs but also extremely friendly and gave us a lot of good pointers for the city and other bars. I was kind of worried about what the atmosphere and crowd would be like, having seen their Facebook page, but we went early enough in the day that we only shared the bar with four other people at most, so it was a really laid back and relaxing experience. The Golden Tiki is a must visit for any tiki enthusiast making the trip to Sin City.
