Humuhumu’s description

The Beachcomber is a new restaurant on the historic Malibu Pier. The restaurant itself is not tiki but rather is designed to look like a 1930s restaurant. However the restaurant's bar, the Malibu Pier Club, has a special nook with a round table that seats about ten available for special reservations... this nook is called the Tonga Lei Room, and it has been decked out as a tribute to the Tonga Lei

restaurant, which was located across the street.
The bar and restaurant opened in 2008, and for the Tonga Lei Room the owners enlisted the assistance of Bamboo Ben, Tiki Farm and Tiki-Ray to help deck the place out.

I went to check this place out in January 2012, since it was highly recommended by the Tiki Chick. However, they had just gone out of business. I was able to peak through the blinds and get barely glimpse of the tiki decor shown in the above picture. Bummer it's closed.

I enjoyed the drinks and food and wouldnt have known about it had it not been for this site The Tonga Lei Room is the only part thats really tiki decorated, but it is awesome you need a group of at least 8 to book the room but Bamboo Ben dig a great job ( like always).
