in Disneyland. It opened in May 2011. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is near the more elaborately-themed Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar
. The offerings have island flavors, including a papaya slaw and a pineapple-teriyaki burger. Made-to-order meals are ordered via a video kiosk, and there are also some grab-and-go options. There are some tables indoors, but most of the seating is on an outdoor patio. Exotica and traditional Hawaiian tunes are played.

Behold the reimagined Tangaroa Terrace.
We missed the re-opening by a day earlier this year but arrived in Anaheim earlier than planned today so we came over for dinner. There were no tables inside Trader Sam’s, and few on the patio available with shade, so we ate inside. The relaxing music and tropical decor was really nice.
The new food menu is a bit of a mixed bag. There were some nice things, like my fried Spam Musabi and the burgers and fries. I really liked by pot stickers. But Mrs Mai Tai didn’t love the nachos or her bland edamame.
Tropical drinks are ordered on the outside window and we had the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum and I also had a Mai Tai. I ordered the Mai Tai with Appleton Reserve and Simple replacing the Agave Syrup. Skipper Melissa did the pour of Appleton and then asked if I wanted all Appleton or to keep the other ounce of rum with the standard Coruba. I stuck with the Coruba and it made for a quite excellent Mai Tai (and there was no extra charge replacing the Bacardi with Appleton, a bargain!) Interestingly, I heard several patrons order their drinks and ask the bartender for a recommendation. In both cases, the Mai Tai was recommended as a balanced drink not too strong and not too sweet.
The patio was packed around 5-ish on a Friday. Some Hawaiian music being played live as well. A very cool and energetic vibe at the Tangaroa Terrace. It’s a hit.
The video kiosks are gone - you place your order with a cashier. Cast Members are pleasant and polite.
I could only eat one thing on the menu (allergies), but it was good. No booze here, of course - you'll have to go next door for that.
The tiki decor is pretty light (especially compared to Trader Sam's), but does have some cool lights that must have come from Oceanic Arts and a couple framed pictures of Walt Disney with Enchanted Tiki Room birds.
It was blissfully quiet - only two other parties - on a Saturday at lunch. (There was one big, noisy family, but they went outside...thank heaven.)
I realize the holiday season is a big draw for Disney, but I do wish they wouldn't play Christmas carols (even tastefully reinterpreted ones) before Thanksgiving. I'll re-evaluate the music after a future visit.
The tiki-fied Christmas tree currently by the front door, however, is awesome.

This is a small and very casual restaurant in the pool area of the Disneyland hotel. The menu is very small but it has a tropical slant and the food is good. Order at a video kiosk, pay the cashier, and then select an open table. Servers deliver your meal. There are a few inside tables but most of the seating is outdoors. There are nice views of the pool area which will be even more pleasant I’m sure once the hotel’s renovation has been finished. The restaurant shares it’s building with Trader Sam’s bar (a separate entry in critiki) which, if you don’t have kids with you, is an absolute must see. If you’re not a hotel guest, park in the Downtown Disney parking lot. The first three hours are free.
