Politiki took a unique spin on tiki, featuring a line of tiki mugs in the likenesses of United States presidents: Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Nixon, Carter and Reagan (with a cameo by Nancy on the back, surrounded by astrological symbols). When it opened in 1993, there were three floors of tiki, but as years went on, it shrank in size. For a time it existed only as the basement in the Pour House, and in late 2004, all the tiki was gone. The space that most recently held Politiki is now a German-themed beer joint.
My wife and I visited the pop-up bar last year. The mugs are certainly amazing (I got the Royal Hawaiian), but we found the drink quality to be very poor. We have not been back since.
Popped in to visit this pop-up bar and while decor looks like it was sourced from the aisles of a party store I appreciated the speakeasy feel as you descended the stairs to their basement. It's cleverly done and the drinks were really tasty. I especially liked the gingery Suffering Bannon. Mugs are incredible! This time around I brought the likeness of Trump, Obama and Bannon home with me. Bartender was on his own so it took awhile to get your drink but he made up for it with lots of great stories and showmanship. Worth a visit if you find yourself on Capitol Hill
Went tonight to the pop-up Politiki. Decor is "meh", but the drinks were great! And the mugs are amazing! Look them up. The Trump mug has Russian writing on the back and a Soviet stamp on the butt.

Looks as if PoliTiki is back, at least for a while as a popup.
