Agreed. I didn't realize the place had a Critiki listing until I saw BankyScout's comment. The other pseudo-tiki place near campus, The Tiki Shack on State Street, is more nearly tiki than the Lava Lounge, but only because the (figurative) bar is so low.
This is a bar off of State St. on the UW campus that never really kept up the tikiness other than the name and some of the decor. The last time I was in there, the bartender didn't know how to make basic tiki drinks and they had only 2 rums.
