Kona Pali is a 63-unit apartment building, built in 1962 in Granada Hills, in the San Fernando Valley. It is a remarkably well-preserved example of a midcentury Polynesian-themed apartment building. It has an identical twin in San Gabriel, the Kona Kai Apartments
. The entrance is a dramatic A-frame. The entryway has a tile mosaic of the Hawaiian islands, and a water feature. Tiki carvings are all over the common grounds of the complex.
I have waited all weekend with a toilet full of feces under manager Zulma Balsells. As an ADA individual she withheld my gate control with no reason given. Doctors notes have been ignored, and not compliant with ADA. 1961 electrical panel. Popcorn ceilings, and hard to communicate due yo language barriers. Kept my keys for no reason including my mail key.

I was lucky enough to catch the complex manager out front and she let me get a glimpse of the grounds. It's remarkable just how well maintained the grounds are. All of the wood carvings are painted green, so I'm curious if they were once natural or more vibrantly decorated. All of the apartment interiors are updated and feature modern appliances and surfaces.

Certainly one of the finest PolyPop Modern apartment buildings on the continent. Even more than the incredible building, decades of careful husbandry of lush, extravagant and giant tropical gardens make this a gem with few equals. The perfect hideaway for the tiki elite.
