This location of Hula Hula opened in April 2017. The new location has a heavier investment in tiki, an improved cocktail program, and a continuation of its popular nightly karaoke.
I had the BEST time at HULA HULA's on my tiki tour of the Seattle area last spring. It was my fave tiki experience of the whole trip...and that was largely due to the bartender who was working that day. Her name was Keila and she was great fun.
Like almost everyone else in Seattle, Keila is a transplant, hailing from Visalia, California. The fact that I remember that is evidence of the wonderful conversation I had with her that evening as I sat at the bar. She made my drinks well, and even let me sample a concoction she was creating on her own. It was just a fun and special experience. You can read about it in my blog (along with photos and video of Keila in action...and tales of other tiki spots I visited) if you'd like. Wherever you are Keila, thank you again for being such a bubbly and friendly highlight on my trip.
We LOVE Tiki bars, especially good ones, and we visit them all over the world.
Hula Hula has a nice decor, the drinks were fine, BUT because of the KARAOKE we chose the booth farthest away from the stage.
sometimes i feel like i'm jane goodall, hiding in the shrubbery, taking notes about a similar species i'm observing.....this was one of those times.
Our time was enjoyable because we were far enough away from the noisy dun to hear our conversation, and enjoy our drinks. But I'm not inspired to return. I'm not a big fan of Karaoke in a tiki bar (but I did quite enjoy the surreal weirdness of karaoke at Lee's Hawaiian Islander in NJ).

Went for karaoke but started earlier because we wanted to take advantage of happy hour, so needless to say we didn’t make it to karaoke. Drinks were very strong. Good but strong. We had loaded tots, amazing. Service was outstanding
The cocktails are good the decoration of the cocktail.coed be better Date tikibar sprit is there. Nice demo of the bar I missed the swizzelstiks They have a mug and realy nice shirts I woed come more often !
Dreadful - it was a Friday night and Kareoke was just about to start, a drunk guy barged his bar stool into mine, I ordered a drink that turned out to be a shot, called the Pineapple Express, not what I thought it was going to be...
Even if I’d been here on a non Kareoke night sat with some Tiki regulars this bar would still suck.
Perhaps the decor is an upgrade from the old location, but sadly, the drinks are not. Perhaps one of the most undrinkable mai tais ever with some very sad mint leaves floating on top. The Scooby Doo movie was playing on the TVs and my husband saw the basketball jersey wearing bartender apply deodorant while behind the bar.
Pleasantly surprised by this clear upgrade from its previous location, and that's taking into account the howling karaoke patrons packed in on a busy Saturday night. Looking forward to a quieter visit during their deeply discounted daily happy hour for more Hum Daiquiris and Shark's Tooths (Teeth?) among the black-lit jungle mural, hanging garden and glowing glass floats.
Hula Hula had to move because of re-development. It's new home is right in the heart of Capitol Hill. It's the same Hula Hula as before but in a bigger and cooler space! Here is my full write up...
