. It had a weathered shingle-clad pyramid over the main entrance, a sort of sharp, angular, modern take on a primitive hut. The tikis on site were highly stylized (in particular a large, back-lit, glowing mask near the entrance), and many were Witco tikis.
Today the location is a high-rise condominium complex called Pinnacle.
Auugh what memories of the long lost family vacations. MY MOM my self and my grandparents used to spend 2 weeks a year at this great place during the 70's. I can remember most of their names, there was Miss Dottie in the playroom, Frank the Life gaurd, and his brother Joey was on the other pool( I think they were twins) Snuffy the little person withe big voice. I was from North Carolina and we met some of the same families there every year, many from Jersey and new York. the loved my accent. I even met a few temporary girlfriends there too. This place had many great memories.
This motel was the go to place for my family during the 70’s for family vacation. I was young but I remember the Tiki Lounge, the pools, going on trips to Indian Village. I remember a midget man who was always in the Tiki Lounge. I can’t remember if he was an entertainer or not. One year we had a room that had hypodermic syringes stuffed in the air vent above the toilet. We always went to Rascal House to eat too. Man, how I wish I can go back in time to this place.
I visited for two weeks in the Summer of 1971 with my family. I had a great time! I remember eating many nights across the street in a low cost steak house that gave out souvenir mugs with your drink that had a built in whistle in the mug handle. The name of the restaurant and the words "Wet Your Whistle" were written on the mug.
