On our visit to Paris, this was one of the must-visits for me, and I was so thoroughly disappointed.

We arrived around 6:30pm, half an hour after they opened, and they clearly weren't ready for service. They were still prepping, so as we tried to order, they ignored us while finishing tasks.

The attitude of the bartender was so incredibly rude and disrespectful. I love France, I love Paris, the whole "French are rude" thing is so overblown and not true, but this gentleman embodied that stereotype. I speak a decent amount of French, but I couldn't hear what he said, and when I asked him to repeat in French, he said, "You don't speak French?" I replied, in French, that I spoke a little. He replied in English, "Well, you don't speak enough." Later, as I was trying to order a second round, another person came in who didn't speak French, and he said to her, "You don't speak French?" Then he looked at me and said, "You know what that's like."

The drinks themselves were good, not great. The ambiance is average. It's VERY dark. Nearly everyone else who came in had to use a cell phone to read the menu. There is some nice decor (the puffer fish lights by the bathrooms are neat), but there is no divider in the place - it's basically one large room - so when the door swings open, the sounds and light come in on everyone.

This is also an order at the bar place, which got hectic with only a dozen people there. Also, no mugs. I asked if they had mugs, and the same bartender said, "I have one at my house. I can bring it tomorrow if you come back." No thanks.

If you're in Paris and want a tiki drink, feel free to visit, but don't go out of your way to come here.

I'm sad I only got to spend one night at this place, but my time there was well spent. Scotty the owner was working when we showed up, and we hit it off immediately. I sampled probably too many of their cocktails, as well as the new Plantation OFTD rum which Scotty had a hand in designing. The decor was nice but not over the top, the music fit the space, the drinks were lovingly crafted and crowd was pretty diverse. A lot of Americans in the joint, as I guess you'd expect. It is bar service only, with some tables, benches and chairs towards the back of the room. The drinks and the hospitality definitely made the place for me, the most special of which was the Marrero daiquiri, a must have frankenstein of a pina coloada and a daiquiri, served in a small coconut shell on a bed of ice in a coupe glass.

Decent tiki joint in the heart of Paris. Disappointed their custom mug was sold out, to me that's something every tiki bar should always have stocked! One bartender showed an obvious love for his craft, and the drinks were well made. Place seemed to skew more into realm of cocktail bar than true tiki, with few classics and mostly drinks of their own creation. Also bar service only, which turned the area in front of the bar into a loud and rowdy area, while the seating was mostly abandoned. Table service would greatly improve the vibe here. Music choice was chill/dub without any island vibes. Decor was pretty good, a few big carved tikis, a number of masks, and good lighting, although the huge pin-up mural was a bit off.
All in all, somewhat disappointing, but still worth the visit for any tiki lover.
