Coral Reef was owned by Buddy and Roberta Maleville in 1949. It had seven "enchanting" dining rooms, one of them being the Outrigger Room; the restaurant could accommodate groups of up to 150. This was the restaurant for the nextdoor Maleville's Coral Reef Lodge

So missed! My family moved to Sacramento in 1949 the same year it opened up and we ate there for five decades.
The food was fabulous and the rattan décor, ambience were inviting and special. I can't forget the pressed mandarin duck and the banana fritters! What I would give for one more meal there...
Grew up in Sacramento, and this was the place I always wanted to visit for birthdays, events, or whenever. Awesome food, atmosphere, everything. It's still so sad to drive past the Carl's Jr. where the Reef once stood.
