Born in Anaheim near Disneyland in 1956. Raised in HB. Lived all around SoCal ever since.
Used to frequent the Bahooka 30 years ago when it was patterned after a sweetheart's hideout in the tropics circa WWII. Patrons were encouraged to write their names on the walls, bamboo, whatever. Our names are still there, somewhere, under all that paint. My parents took us kids to see the Enchanted Tiki Room when it opened. That was something. Guess it made an impression. I've wanted to recreate the talking tiki totems ever since. Then I take my son to Trader Sam's when it opens and there's that tiki totem looking down at us... zinctiki has provided 9 images to Critiki:
