I am just a lover of all things Tiki. My first tiki experience was at Trader Vics in the "basement" of the Plaza Hotel in New York City back in the 1970's. I was hooked. Alas! That Trader Vic's is no more (rumor has it it was Richard Nixon's favorite restaurant, and I'm just not sure what to make of that!). FYI the Trader Vic's at the Hilton in Berlin (was there last Xmas of 2003) is / was way too sleek / modern for my taste (very light on the bamboo and thatch). The Trader Vic's at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo is great! Complete with a huge picture window looking directly at a large waterfall. Ah-Oooooooo-GAH!
