Mt. Fuji Inn and Mai Tai LoungeBar & Restaurant
Have a photo or a collectible from Mt. Fuji Inn and Mai Tai Lounge?
Add it to Critiki! Humuhumu’s description:
Mt. Fuji Inn opened in 1967, and was Omaha's first Japanese restaurant; the cuisine on offer actually spans from Japanese to Cantonese to American. Polynesian cocktails are available from the restaurant's Mai Tai Lounge, and once were served in customized Mt. Fuji Inn moai tiki mugs.
The main restaurant is unremarkable, but the downstairs Mai Tai Lounge is apparently mostly untouched from its initial late-'60s development. It is lit dimly with resin-and-bamboo and beachcomber lamps, bamboo hanging over the bar, and orange vinyl chairs. There are a few tiki touches including tiki doorpulls, and a tall tiki pole at the entrance to the lounge. There has been talk of the Mt. Fuji Inn closing over the past few years, but as of 2009, it is still operating.
