This Polynesian-themed resort complex is right on the Atlantic Ocean; most of its 208 spacious hotel rooms have private balconies overlooking the ocean. The hotel has a number of amenities, including a large outdoor pool, an indoor pool, shuffleboard, and a beachside 9-hole putt-putt course, and most of the rooms include small kitchenettes. There are three restaurants, including the poolside restaurant and tiki bar, a small coffee shop in the lobby, and the Green Turtle Restaurant, which has Teauila's Hawaiian Luau Dinner Show.
The hotel probably dates from the mid-60s, and has seen better days. There is no remnant of its Polynesian history in the rooms, which appear to have undergone remodels at some point in the 80s -- all of the rooms used to have Witco headboards, which can now be seen as wall hangings throughout the hotel. Outside of the rooms, there are some nice touches, including bamboo-encased garbage cans and Witco furniture. Just up the street from Hawaiian Inn, you'll find Aku Tiki Inn and Traders Restaurant.

They're doing a huge renovation right now on the east side of the building. The Green Turtle is closed, replaced by the Ohana Luau which is only open on Saturdays. Outside the doors to the Ohana Luau are some wall lamps and benches which reek of Witco though I'm not 100% certain. There is a 'tiki bar' off the pool which, much to the workers' chagrin, does not sell tiki mugs. It has potential - give it six months or so for the renos to be over and done with and I'd come back.

I've been staying along the A1A since 1984. Absolutely dug this place. Stayed there in August of '12. The room was large with an efficiency apartment, double beds, and a Futon. Two televisions and a spectacular view of the pool and beach. Yeah, the room was a little beat up, but it's a beach resort, not the Peabody. Let your hair down, enjoy the atmosphere. I'm going back as soon as I can.
