Located in the lower level of the Palmer House Hilton. Was originally called "The Traders." New ownership at the Palmer House ousted Trader Vic's in December 2005 after nearly 50 years in its location. After a three-year hiatus, Trader Vic's reopened in a new Chicago location in late 2008.

As a Trader Vic's Aficionado the one thing I noticed was they shook all of their drinks. Very few were blended. And it is a sad thing this location is closed. I hope the new location comes to pass.

Trader Vic's has re-opened. It is located in the Newberry Plaza Building at 1030 N. State St. in Chicago. It is an upscale environment with first-rate drinks and food. The Tiki theme is subdued and "polished" which probably speaks to the suit and tie crowd. The staff is wonderful and Pallava, the GM is always the consummate professional as well as just a really nice person.

I had the good fortune of visiting this TRADER VIC's Location back in 93' This TRADER VIC's was one of the better Polynesian Themed establishments I have had the pleasure of attending - It succeeded at transporting my thoughts away from the cares of the day - and so I give it high ranking. Sadly, "they don't build em like this" anymore - (but I hope to change that)...
