Exterior of Waitiki in Orlando

Add it to Critiki! Humuhumu’s description:
New two-story tiki bar and Polynesian restaurant in Orlando's Wall Street Plaza, owned by a developer who owns six other clubs in the complex. Waitiki opened in August of 2004, and features a bar made of antique ironwood, outdoor balconies, many wood carvings and teak flooring, as well as artwork from modern-day tiki artists like Flounder, Joe & Donella Vitale and local tiki carver Wayne Coombs. Music is a mix of exotica, surf and rock, along with visiting lounge performances--no Top 40. Tropical cocktails are made with fresh-squeezed juices and proper garnishes, and the food is a more modern take on Polynesian cuisine, with a focus on seafood.

The decor is nice, it looks like it should be Tiki, but it ain't. Music playing was country western, the menu is eclectic bar food, waitress recommended the cheese steak (so-so), and the drinks were fruit juice sweet. Skip it and head over to Disney's Polynesian.

I was there about a year ago. It's a regular bar in Tiki clothing. Some of the decor is great, but one can't escape the homogenized corporate feeling.
